Paco Rodríguez Azorín

Francisco Rodríguez Azorín, was born in Yecla (Murcia). He began his musical studies with Miguel Torres at the Conservatorio Superior in Murcia. He was awarded a scholarship by the Spanish Ministry of Culture to continue his studies in France. He studied under Daniel Bourgue (french horn) and J. C. Montac (chamber music) at the Conservatoire National in Versailles, where he was awarded Premier Prix (unanimously), Honour Prize at the same conservatoire under the presidency of Lucièn Thèvet, and Bronze Medal (unanimously) at the Toulon International Competition (France). He has premiered many works and recordings.
He was Principal Horn in both the JONDE (National Youth Orchestra of Spain) and the Orquesta de Cámara de la Comunidad de Madrid. He has also worked with the Orquesta Sinfónica de Madrid, Orquesta Ciudad de Barcelona, Orquesta de Cadaqués and the Hamburg Philharmonisches Staatsorchester, and until 2012, he was member of the Orquestra Simfònica del Gran Teatre del Liceu.
He has performed as soloist with the Orquesta de Cámara de Madrid, Orquesta de Cámara del Gran Teatre del Liceu, Orquesta Camera Musicae and the Orquesta de la Academia del Liceu, Orquesta Juvenil del Yucatán (México). He has performed the First Concert of R. Strauss, in a Mexican tour with the Sistema de Orquestas Juveniles in México.
He is guest teacher for Master classes in different Youth Orchestras, and gives lessons in many horn congresses, in Europe, Asia and America.
He is a founder member of the “Barcelona Petit Ensemble”, with which he has brought an extensive repertoire for horn and strings into the public domain. As a member of Cornicinum he toured Spain and Europe, as well as recording for RNE (Spanish national radio), Catalunya Radio, TV3, TVE (Spanish national television) and Slovak State Television. He has also recorded for Sachmo Records, Opus and Arte.
